Navigate Ryvo with Tab and the arrow keys, open actions with Enter, and find shortcuts for your table.
Start with the basics
Press Tab to move to the next control and Shift+Tab to move back. When you reach a button you want to use, press Enter or Space to activate it.
Inside the playing area, the arrow keys move between tiles, cards or board squares. Moving focus to a piece does not play it. Explore first, then activate the item when you are ready to act.
Outside the playing area, Up and Down move through controls and visible text. In the weekly ranking you can read the period, your own position, and each player’s name, rank, level and XP. Left and Right move between nearby controls on the same row. In text fields and selection controls, arrows keep their usual behavior.
A plus sign in this guide means pressing keys together. For Ctrl+Tab, hold Ctrl and press Tab.
Move between the main tabs
Jump straight to a tab or move through the main tabs in order.
- Ctrl+1 opens Games
- Ctrl+2 opens Friends
- Ctrl+3 opens Salons
- Ctrl+4 opens My profile
- Ctrl+Tab moves to the next main tab
- Ctrl+Shift+Tab moves to the previous main tab
These shortcuts are for the four main tabs. Use the page navigation shortcuts below to move between controls within a page.
Find your way around pages and long lists
You do not have to visit every item to reach another section or the end of a long list.
- F6 moves to the next section of the page
- Shift+F6 moves to the previous section
- Page Down moves forward by roughly one screen within the current list or scrolling area
- Page Up moves back by roughly one screen
- Home moves to the first item in the current group
- End moves to the last item in the current group
- Ctrl+Home moves to the first reachable item on the page
- Ctrl+End moves to the last reachable item on the page
- Ctrl+F focuses search when the page has a search field
- Alt+Left Arrow follows the usual back action
Page Up and Page Down move focus along with the view so you can continue from the new position. Returning to a section tries to restore the last item you focused there, provided it is still available.
Going back from a table keeps the usual leave confirmation. Search works on pages that offer it, including Friends and Salons.
Read official messages and gifts
Open a message and use Tab to reach its text or gift details. These appear in read-only text fields, where you can move with the arrows, select text and copy it. Press Tab to reach the next control or Shift+Tab to go back.
Keep up with the table
These shortcuts help you hear what is happening and reach actions without leaving the playing area.
- A announces whose turn it is
- S reads a short table summary
- Shift+Enter opens actions for the focused item when it has actions
- Escape closes an open panel or piece list first, then clears a selection if there is one. Otherwise it goes back, keeping the game’s leave confirmation. It does not close the app from its home page
For example, focus a piece and press Shift+Enter to explore its available actions. Opening the menu does not play the piece or automatically run the first action. You choose what happens next.
Jump to a chess square
Press Ctrl+G to open the square dialog, type a coordinate such as e4 and confirm. Arabic digits are accepted for the rank too, as in e٤.
Focus moves to that square without making a move. You can then press Enter or Space to select a piece or make the appropriate move, depending on the board state. The arrow keys remain available for exploring nearby squares.
The board faces your colour. White is at the bottom when you play White and Black is at the bottom when you play Black. An empty square is read by its coordinate alone, such as e4, without the word empty.
Move announcements name the piece and its starting and destination squares without repeating your opponent's name, your colour and whose turn comes next. Press A when you want the turn announcement or S when you want a summary.
Read played domino tiles
Numbers 0 to 6 have an extra use when exploring the domino chain. Focus a tile on the table and activate it with Enter or Space, then press one of its two numbers. Ryvo reads how many played tiles contain that number and names those tiles.
For example, activate a 6 and 3 tile and press 6 to hear the played tiles containing 6. You can use the top number row or the numeric keypad while it is in number entry mode.
This inquiry covers the visible tiles on the table. It does not reveal opponents' hands or the draw pile and is separate from choosing a tile to play from your hand.
Use the microphone and listen
When you enter a table where voice is available, Ryvo joins table voice automatically so you can hear people talking, and announces who is in the table voice with you and who joins or leaves it. Your microphone stays off until you turn it on.
Press Ctrl+M or use the microphone button at the top of the table, next to the options button, to turn on your microphone. Press again to mute it while you keep listening. To stop hearing table voice on this device, choose “Stop hearing table voice on this device” in table options. Ryvo remembers this choice at later tables, and turning on your microphone brings listening back.
Your table permissions still apply. The shortcut does not give a spectator permission to speak when speaking is not allowed.
Optional D, F and J shortcuts
If you prefer reaching parts of the table with a single letter, open Settings and find the Windows keyboard section. Enable the option for D, F and J inside the table. It is off by default and you can turn it off whenever you like.
- D focuses the dice or draw button when it is present and available
- F focuses the players area
- J returns focus to your last position in your hand or on the board while that item remains available
These keys only move focus. Pressing D does not roll dice or draw a tile. After reaching the button, press Enter or Space if you want to use it. If there is no saved playing position, J takes you to an available item in the playing area.
Get help and check your ping
F1 opens keyboard help for your current screen. Use it whenever you forget a shortcut. There is no need to learn the whole list at once.
F2 starts a fresh measurement of the server's response time and announces the result in milliseconds without moving focus. This is your ping, not your internet download speed. A lower number means a faster response at that moment and the result can change with your connection and network traffic.
Typing and using a screen reader
In text fields, letters stay available for typing and text navigation keys keep their usual editing behaviour. A will not announce the turn while you write a message and Home will not jump to the first page control while you edit text.
Main tab shortcuts, F6 and available search can still take you out of the field to your destination. Open dialogs and selection lists keep their own normal keyboard navigation until you close them.
If a letter shortcut does not reach Ryvo while you use a screen reader, check the reader's navigation mode. It may be using that letter for one of its own commands. You can also leave D, F and J off and use Tab, the arrow keys and F6 to reach controls.
Start with the shortcuts you need. Tab, the arrow keys and Enter are enough to get familiar with the interface. Add the others as they become useful in your games.
